Staunton's Downtown Visitor Center found a new home in the New Street Parking Garage this spring. The Staunton Convention & Visitors Bureau has been working diligently over the last six months to prepare for the relocation. Along with a new location Frazier Associates of Staunton, Virginia was hired to design the Center's new home. On April 7, 3008, Dink's Construction from Harrisonburg, Virginia began work on the construction and the staff moved in mid-May. The new Visitor Center now features a 50" plasma television with rotating promotional images, a revamped welcome desk, new carpeting, modern pendant lighting created by Staunton's own Sunspots Glassblowing Studio and fresh paint colors. Exhibits and signage are being designed and constructed and will be in place very soon along with some stylish new furnishings for Visitor Center guests. Kathy Frazier states, "The new Visitor Center is a little more graphic, a little brighter, and creates a more attractive and inviting quality for the tourists visiting the area."
The Visitor Center is an informational guide that focuses on the various attractions, lodging, dining, shopping, events and recreational opportunities in the City of Staunton as well as information about destinations throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Located in the New Street Parking Garage, the Center operates 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. November through March and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April through October.
