Staunton Visitor Center Goes Green

The Staunton Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce that the newly renovated Staunton Visitor Center located at 35 South New Street in downtown Staunton has been designated a Certified Virginia Green Visitor Center.
To earn the Virginia Green status, the Staunton Visitor Center not only met the core environmental practices as required by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, but the center also supports numerous other environmentally-friendly techniques in the areas of recycling, waste reduction, and water and energy efficiency.
Currently, there are seven businesses in the City of Staunton that have made a commitment to the environment and become a Virginia Green tourism property including Belle Grae Inn, Cranberry’s Grocery & Eatery, Montclair Bed & Breakfast, Shenandoah Valley Inn, Staunton Grocery, Staunton Visitor Center, and the Stonewall Jackson Hotel & Conference Center.

Virginia Green is a partnership program between the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Virginia Hospitality & Travel Association to promote environmentally-friendly practices in all aspects of the Virginia tourism industry.  For more information on the Virginia Green program, visit www.VirginiaGreenTravel.org
